Tomb Raider Guardian of Light Review ScreenshotEven though Lara Croft was the real star ever since the first Tomb Raider title back in 1996, it wasn’t until 2010 that Eidos finally made it official by getting rid of the ‘Tomb Raider’ title. That isn’t the only change that was made in Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. Other than the obvious (Lara Croft’s first downloadable title), the game itself also does a 180 – throwing out the tried and true 3D adventure that we all know for a Diablo-style overhead viewpoint. Overall, this change ends up working better than I ever expected.

New Xbox 360 Wireless Controller Featuring a Transforming D-Pad

Posted By Justin Lee On August 31, 2010 at 2:36 pm ADD COMMENTS

Major Nelson has posted on his blog video of the new cool Xbox 360 controller with a “transforming D-Pad”. How does it transform? Well, it just simply raises and lowers the base that is below the d-pad. In short, you can turn it into a real D-pad with no concave circle under it. Microsoft also has removed the colour codes from the buttons, so if you are a newbie gamer…this pad won’t be for you as some games refer to the colour codes on screen. The oddly mixed “mono” video will better show this off so check it out:

The controller will be out November 9th in United States (mostly Canada too) for $64.99 and will only be available with the Plug and Charge kit. European gamers will get their hands on it in February 2011.

StarCraft is an amazing example of how much life a well-supported title can have. It was released in 1998 and it still has a large community playing, even with its sequel out on the market. When it came out, it was pitted against the Command and Conquer series and now that franchise is simply an afterthought. StarCraft 2 comes out at a time of change in the real-time strategy genre. Classic mechanics have been started to be placed on the back-burner for more action-oriented games. Can StarCraft 2 succeed with this old style of gameplay or has it merely gotten too stale?
