Castle in the Darkness LogoDid you like Volgarr the Viking but found that game unbelievably too difficult to finish? Or any other old-school like platformers from either the 8-bit or 16-bit era? Well thankfully Castle in the Darkness gives players a solid, yet it still is a cruel mistress, as it proves that just because you have an easier time, you still won’t have your hand held.

This past fall was chock full of racing titles with a big push behind them. Forza Horizon 2 has established itself as an Xbox One exclusive well worth getting the system for. Meanwhile, Drive Club, a Playstation 4 exclusive, crashed and burned spectacularly on launch and remains out of the grasp of the PS+ audience it was originally promised to. If you didn’t want to be manipulated by the two major first parties, Ubisoft provided an escape (as well as PC version) with The Crew. Unfortunately this new franchise sputters out of the start grid and meets a similar fate to Drive Club, with issues that persist to this day.

Mario Kart 8 DLC Review – Wii U

Posted By Michael Leparc On February 10, 2015 at 1:10 pm ADD COMMENTS

Mario Kart 8 Box Shot SmallerNintendo has finally gotten on the DLC bandwagon with the Wii U and 3DS this generation, with some dips of their toes here and there, they finally jump in with both feet on a major title with this first DLC pack for Mario Kart 8, and you can tell they really put a lot of effort into this, which pays off immensely for those of us looking for some new things to do in one of the biggest titles of last year.

This set of DLC adds 8 new tracks (in two new cups, the Egg Cup and Triforce Cup), 3 new characters, 4 new vehicles and a couple new parts to slap on. Two of the “new” characters are just Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach, so not really new characters but wearing new outfits. However, their new celebration animations and sounds are a hoot and show a deep attention to detail (Tanooki Mario turns into a statue at times for instance) much like everything else in this offering.

“This was a huge endeavor for everyone on the Halo 5 team and one that we approached with nervous excitement,” said Josh Holmes, Executive Producer on the “Halo 5: Guardians” Multiplayer Beta. “We’re thrilled with the results – the level of engagement and response from our community shattered all of our expectations.”

Halo 5 Beta Statistics 02042015

While the “Halo 5: Guardians” Multiplayer Beta proved to be a hit among fans, the treasure trove of gameplay data and player feedback it provided is an invaluable resource that 343 Industries is using to make the game’s multiplayer experience even better.

“Throughout the beta we monitored feedback channels including web forums, reddit, Twitter, Facebook and our newly launched Halo Community Feedback Program. From these sources we tracked literally thousands of pieces of detailed feedback,” said Holmes. “The team has spent the past few weeks poring over player feedback from the aforementioned sources and from this we have developed an extensive list of improvements for the game, including adjustments to Spartan Abilities, Weapons, Competitive Skill Ranking and much more.”

For more detail on how 343 Industries is already using player feedback to fine-tune aspects of multiplayer in “Halo 5: Guardians,” please read Josh Holmes’ letter to the “Halo” community on Halo Waypoint.

TheLegendofZeldaMajorasMask3D_LogoSeveral years ago, The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time 3D released for the fledgling handheld. People had both expected and desired a port to Majora’s Mask as well. After some time later, Nintendo had teased if players wanted a new game in the vein of A Link to the Past or a Majora’s Mask port. The result of which led to the release of A Link Between Worlds. A year later, a Majora’s Mask port was announced. It seems that they only wanted to know which to release first, although Majora’s Mask 3D has been in develop for a long time.
